The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Chile and Ecuador, Alfred Moreno and Ricardo Patiño, respectively, chaired this morning the First Meeting of the Chile- Ecuador Association Council.
This instrument will strengthen the political, economic, cultural, historical, legal and social ties that have joined Chile and Ecuador in a spirit of democracy, brotherhood and solidarity. In this regard, Minister Moreno highlighted the level reached by the relations between the two countries and the importance of this meeting.
The Ecuadorian foreign minister, in turn, agreed on the particular importance of this Association Council to enrich and deepen the already rich and dynamic bilateral relationship, and which reflects the excellent ties and understanding developed by President Rafael Correa and Sebastián Piñera.
Foreign Ministers Patiño and Moreno , along with reviewing the main topics of the bilateral agenda and sharing views on the regional global situation, discussed the work carried out by the four committees established as executive bodies by this Agreement: on Political and Social Affairs ,on Cooperation, on Economic-Commercial and Cultural Affairs, and pledged to continue to deepen and strengthen the joint work in various areas of the bilateral work , in line with the development of the agendas established by each of the aforementioned committees.
After the meeting, the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister accompanied by Minister Moreno was received in a special audience by H.E. Sebatian Piñera, President of Chile, to whom he conveyed the greetings of the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa.
