Rome, Wednesday March 2, 2011
As part of his presidential tour to Europe, Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno attended the launch of the megaproject Chile-Italy University Network in Rome.
On behalf of Chile, the university alliance was signed by Universidad de Chile, Universidad Católica del Norte, Universidad de Concepción and Universidad Técnica Santa María, while on the Italian side was signed by Università di Bologna, Università di Pisa, Scuola Superiore di Studi e Perfezionamento Sant'Anna di Pisa, Squola Normale Superiore de Pisa, Università degli Studi Roma Tre and Politecnico di Milano.
The goal of the Chile-Italy University Network is to establish an ongoing association between the educational institutions of both countries, allowing the development of cooperation projects and transfer in areas such as industrial design, geothermal energy and environmental management. To this end, it will be essential to promote student mobility through scholarships, the exchange of experiences in academic curricula and the future establishment of a center of excellence in these areas in Chile.
