Minister Moreno highlights Chile’s participation at Expo Shanghai

Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno led today along with Commissioner General Hernán Somerville the public account ceremony of Chile’s participation at Expo Shanghai 2010.

In his speech, Minister Moreno recalled his participation at the inauguration of Chile’s pavilion and highlighted the presence of the country at the world fair.

Chile’s pavilion showed the Chilean culture through an interesting use of modern technologies and it additionally turned into in a platform for trade and investment promotion.

Likewise, Minister Moreno said that “from our perspective, the results have been very positive, with more than 3 million people who visited our pavilion and sales over US$ 2 million.”

This was an effort that we were able to implement through good public policies and which was complemented with the practice of the principles of public-private partnership,” Minister Moreno said.

He then added that “Chile had an exposure in the local media never seen before thanks to different  and stunning initiatives,  such as the Well of the Antipodes and the market area, just to name a few.”

The Foreign Minister highlighted the awards received by the Chile Pavilion as a recognition to the country for a job well done. “The gold trophy to the pavilion with the best thematic development, granted by the International Exhibitions Bureau, is the highest award in the contest. Therefore, it is Chile and this Ministry’s pride and joy to receive it in this ceremony.”

Chile Pavilion at Expo Shanghai was also awarded the Expo Oscar to the most humane pavilion granted by the Shanghai Morning Post, an award from the public who visited the Expo and the pavilion; the Public- Private Cooperation award, granted by Diario Financiero de Chile, and the Huffington Post placed it within the 25 best pavilions in the fair.
