Government condemns attack to Chilean embassy in Italy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alfredo Moreno, condemned on behalf of the Government of Chile the attack against the Chilean embassy in Rome, Italy, where a staff member was injured.

“On behalf of the Chilean Government and particularly of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we would like to reiterate our rejection and strongest condemnation of these cowardly acts that only manage to harm innocent people,” the Foreign Minister said.

Minister Moreno informed that the official injured is César Mella Arroyo, whose left hand was injured and is still recovering in Umberto Primo Hospital.

“We are closely following the progress of our fellow national, who will very likely have another operation tomorrow on one of his fingers and due to other injuries he has on his face and stomach, which are fortunately less serious. Likewise, we are mindful of the situation of the whole Chilean delegation in Rome, who is obviously greatly affected by this terrorist act,” expressed the head of the Chilean diplomacy.
