Chile supports Ban Ki-moon’s nomination for a second term as UN Secretary-General

The Government of Chile has decided to support the nomination of the Secretary-General of United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, for a second term in office.
The Government of Chile acknowledges the important work he has carried out as head of the United Nations, which is based on personal and institutional commitment to strengthen multilateralism as the appropriate system to address the challenges for the international community. Chile also shares the priorities that the Secretary-General has set for the future, reinforcing the work of the organization under a combined framework of rationalization, budgetary discipline and management improvement.
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon took the helm of the organization on January 1, 2007, for a five-year period and has announced his willingness to serve a second term.
