Minister Moreno attends preparatory meetings for CELAC Summit

Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno is in Venezuela attending the preparatory meetings of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Minister Moreno met yesterday with his counterparts from the region at the Military Circle of Caracas. The meeting adopted the Declaration of Caracas to be ratified by the Heads of State, who will meet this Friday and Saturday to formalize the establishment of CELAC.

After the formation of this community, Chile will assume its pro-tempore presidency. In this regard, Minister Moreno said, “The aim is to achieve a practical and effective integration, which means sharing energy and resources, as well as opening borders to facilitate the movement of people, job creation and increasing capital flows…This integration is what will help our countries move forward, helping each other according to what each one has.”
