Overseas Consular Death Registration

Request of Death Registration

What does it consist in?

Death registration of Chilean citizens residing overseas and whose death occurred abroad, before the Civil Registry and Identification Service of Chile.

Where is it carried out?

At the Consulates of Chile overseas
At the Civil Registry Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the cases where the applicant had not carried out the procedure at the corresponding Consulate.

Who is it addressed to?

Persons wishing to regularize the decease of a Chilean citizen overseas.

Requirements

  • Accredit the Chilean nationality of the deceased, with its Passport or Identity Card
  • Death Certificate issued by the authorities of the corresponding country.
  • Birth Certificate of the deceased.
  • If the deceased was married, the Marriage Certificate must be submitted.
  • Identity document of the person applying for the registration.

Result

Overseas Death registration at the Civil Registry and Identification Service of Chile.

Observations

  • Additional records may be requested during the application procedures
  • Enquiries on procedure fees must be made at the Consulate.
