Misplacement
Misplacement of Passport or Identity Card overseas
The applicant must notify at the corresponding Consulate of Chile overseas, that is, in the country where the misplacement of the Passport occurred, in order to block the document. Besides, he must submit written evidence of the loss and request a safe-conduct to leave the country or apply for a new Passport.
Where can it be requested?
At the Consulate of Chile overseas, in the country where the Passport was lost.
Who is it addressed to?
Chilean nationals who have lost their Passport or Identity Card overseas.
Requirements
The petitioner must accredit identity by means of any document or by submitting information before the Consulate (this information must be verified in Chile). Also, he must submit written evidence before the local police authority of the receiver State and carry out a Sworn Statement explaining the circumstances in which the document was lost.
Fees
The issuing of a new Passport, Identity Card or other document.
Observations
Before issuing a new Passport or Identity Card every Consulate will verify the information delivered in our country. For that reason, the handing over of the passport is not immediate. On the other hand, the applicant wishing or having to return to Chile may request a safe-conduct to leave the country where located.
