Procedures at the Civil Registry & Identification Service
Definition of Chilean citizens:
- Individuals born in the territory of the country, with the exceptions that the constitution regulations point out;
- Children of a Chilean father or mother, born in foreign territory, requiring in this case that any of the straight line ancestors, in first or second degrees, had acquired The Chilean nationality in accordance with what it is established in the numbers 1º, 4º or 5º, of the constitutional regulation;
- Foreigners granted with the letter of citizenship or honorary citizenship acting pursuant to the law.
Request of Identity Verification
What does it consist of?
It entails the verification of the number of RUN (national ID number) of the petitioner and this is carried out when a Chilean citizen abroad requires the renewal of Passport or when requested by the police abroad.
On the other hand, there is a request for identity verification by Exchange; this is when a person loses documents. Exchange is a report that comprises the digit fingerprint card, personal data and photography of the petitioner.

- Consulates of Chile overseas.
Who is it addressed to?
Chilean citizens overseas requested to verify identity before the Consul or the Civil Registry & Identification General Department.
